Classical Music: Upcoming Piano Concerts in Northern California

My Northern California trip is still in its planning stages, as I am currently looking ahead at upcoming concerts that interest me. And although the San Francisco Bay Area has been my main focus, I am still open to Sacramento Upcoming Events and other regions beyond the Bay Area.

And although Classical Music is the main genre I am eager find concerts for, my main focus within the area of Classical Music would be solo piano and piano concertos.

As I mentioned in previous posts, I would be willing to fly out to Northern California, rent a car and travel a ways if a favorite artist of mine is performing, and won’t be coming to San Diego. These days, musical artists are limited to the number of venues and cities they can perform in, so sometimes traveling is necessary in order to listen to these artists “live”.

And in my last piano concert trip to Northern California my wife and I attended Keith Jarrett’s solo piano concert, which was completely improvised. So if the conditions are right, I will go to great lengths to attend a concert, especially solo piano music.

Another artist I’m intent on seeing “live” is Yuja Wang, the young 20-something concert pianist from Beijing. I believe she might be performing a concert in San Francisco with the San Francisco Symphony. Oops, I’m just reading that tonight she performs in San Francisco, so maybe I’ll try to catch her in Los Angeles.

Here are some upcoming piano concerts in Northern California:

April 14 – András Schiff, San Francisco, California

April 14 – Martin Helmchen, San Francisco, California

June 21 – American Pianist, Kevin Kern, Sacramento, California

June 22 – American Pianist Kevin Kern, Walnut Creek, California
