Who Dat? Or, What Just Happened on the Stock Market?

So, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years,
you just noticed that the stock market tanked today.

Well, it’s not exactly a stock market crash like that of 1929 or 2008, but this was a substantial drop of the likes we haven’t seen since the Brexit thing last year.

So, what does one do if you’re an investor?

Well, if you have long positions that have been highly profitable, it would make sense to keep them for the long run and let the stock market iron things out in the next few days or weeks.

If you are trying to swing trade or even day trade, of course, things are going to be more difficult. You could go for a better-than-average batting record, but then you would have lost some money along the way.

It seems more logical to buy into these dips and hold for the long term, providing you’ve invested in some great companies that have a proven track record AND they will give you some nice dividends as well.

And if you’ve invested in great companies, but your recent purchases have gone South a bit, I would act like Warren Buffett and treat it like a value investing move. So, all is not lost if you bought into the dip and things still went South.

This is all simple, logical thinking, but you’d be surprised what people do when they panic.

Yes, above all, don’t panic.

During times when the stock market starts going haywire, just watch and follow, and wait for it.

Note: The stock market is subject to volatility. Trade at your own risk!
