Morning Cup

Monday Monday, December 13, 2016

I’m not sipping my Starbucks yet, but I’m computing away for now because the line is so long at this one Starbucks near SDSU.

The place seems more hectic than usual… Is it because the college students are in finals week? Or is it just because of the Christmas rush? OR maybe a little of both.

Anyway…

It’s been quite hectic this month and I have a lot of gigs in December, which is great. But, yes it makes everything quite busy this holiday season.

Hamilton, The Musical

I’ve been resisting the temptation to see what Hamilton is all about. Mainly, I’m not that much into rap and hip hop, nor the life of Alexander Hamilton.

And frankly, I was wondering what all the hoopla was all about.

But, suddenly I’ve been interested in this musical and it’s become somewhat of an obsession.

And I’m shocked to find that tickets for this vastly popular musical are hard to come by, unless you have a couple thousand dollars for some great seats! Even the nose bleed balcony seats can go for $800 or more. This is crazy.

It doesn’t seem right, but the Broadway show (correct me if I’m wrong) has sold out it’s current run! And tickets for the upcoming San Francisco and Los Angeles shows are selling at top dollar too.

Phillipa Soo, “Helpless”, Original Broadway Cast Recording

I’m thinking I’ll be able to finally see the musical when it comes to the silver screen (as an online friend suggested), and I might just wait a couple more years until all the hoopla dies down.

Until then, I’ve been catching up on all the documentary videos AND listening to all the songs on YouTube.

The book seems compelling too. As I’m sure people who can’t see the musical are buying up the books and the Original Broadway cast recording on Amazon.
