Doctor Oz is a Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon who gained popularity with his daily television show promoting healthy living and nutritious eating, as well as exploring ways to lose weight.
Doctor Oz Promoting the Vegan Diet? Say What?
Yes, it’s true according to Happy Healthy Vegan’s YouTube video, and he even mentions that more and more Americans are turning to Veganism as a solution to weight loss and healthy eating.
He’s also trying to promote ‘guilt-free meat’!
Yes, he’s promoting guilt-free meat like Bison?
So, I think his shows just tries to please everyone but doesn’t stand up for any specific principles of sound eating and nutrition.
I think there is no such thing as guilt-free meat, unless you consider the true vegan meats to be guilt-free, which they truly are.
Dr. Oz Promoting the Vegan Diet? Say What?
In Dr. Oz’s defense, I think that he is trying to expose all the possibilities available to the general public as far as healthy eating and nutrition goes.
Here’s the video…
My Thoughts on Guilt-Free Meats?
There is no such thing, to be honest with you. It’s a misnomer.
And there are true vegan foods that simulate the taste and texture of real meats. But to call Bison or even Deer meats ‘guilt-free’ meats?
It really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense!
And, television shows like Dr. Oz keep promoting animal foods as protein foods, and yes they are rich in proteins, but they are also rich in saturated fats, cholesterol, uric acid and other byproducts of animal eating. And unless you are getting the most expensive, healthiest meats that are organic, free-range, antibiotic-free, and hormone-free; you just don’t know what you’re getting that might cause cancer, heart disease or diabetes down the road. Not to mention other diseases.
In the end, a plant-based diet, whether you’re are vegan or not, is the most sensible diet for well-being and healthy living. And whole plant foods are the way to go.
Grandma always told you to eat your broccoli, and this is the God’s honest truth!
