First Time Trip to New Orleans – Part 3

New Orleans

The Westin New Orleans on Canal Street turned out to be an excellent choice for our stay in The Big Easy.

For one, the hotel sits directly in front of the Might Mississippi, and there is the red Streetcar line that can take the tourist to the Steamboat Nantchez and the historical French Market a bit further to the Northwest.

The Westin New Orleans is also walking distance to the French Quarter. On one side the Westin faces the Mississippi River while on the other side it faces Downtown New Orleans.

Yes, the Westin Hotels can be expensive but you can get a better deal if you buy your plane tickets and hotel at the same time. In my humble opinion you don’t need a car, as everything in the French Quarter is walking distance, and if you need to go someplace else like the Garden District or the Central Park, you can just take a Streetcar.

The St. Charles Streetcar (the green line) takes you into the heart of the Garden District with its many old mansions, and it can also take you to the Tulane University and Loyola University, as well as the Audubon Zoo and Park.
