Friday, June 6, 2018: New Trading Setup and a Good Rally

Nice Rally!

DOW +99.74—-NASDAQ +101.96—-SP500 +23.21—-NYSE +79.67

Portfolio Winners: SHOP, NFLX, ISRG
Portfolio Laggards: BGS, CAT, T

Once again the markets were highly volatile, yet somehow ended well into the plus side. So, I’m always happy that we end the week on a high note.

Above you can see my new trading setup in action.

I have four complete trading setups on TOS (Think or Swim), which took a LOT of painstaking tweaking and customizing. And this was all using three screens.

I have four separate setups:

  • 1. Day Trade Setup – This is my main setup if I see opportunities to Day Trade some stocks. Most of the charts are intra-day, and I have either a 5 day or 10 day chart for weekly fluctuations of any given stock. I also have TOS’s Active Trader turned on.
  • 2. Swing Trade Setup – This is probably the setup that I use the most, as I consider myself primarily a Swing Trader and like to follow the fluctuations of certain stocks within a 1 week to 1 month span, and will ride a stock as far as it goes before showing signs of fatigue or resistance.
  • 3. Ichimoku Cloud – This is a setup that’s new to me and something I’m pretty enthusiastic about. It basically was developed by a Japanese investor and means ‘one glance’ or ‘one look’. I suppose the logic behind Ichimoku Cloud is to be able to glance at a chart and know exactly if a stock is bullish or bearish, based on the direction and colour of the Ichimoku Cloud.
  • 4. Research Setup – This is the newest setup and is helpful in doing specific research on a variety of stocks via a huge watch list that is maintained. I have set the watch list to view the best performing stocks on the list by percentage gains, rather than by monetary gains. And, the video feature is triggered to show all recent videos related to the stock that is being researched. This newest setup is something I am totally stoked about and proud of having customized on TOS, as the trading platform can have a steep learning curve. But the rewards are there.

I’ve been getting into using the Ichimoku Cloud indicator for my technical charts, and it’s been help me so far in determining quickly if a stock is bullish or bearish.

Well, the tweaking and customizing was well worth the effort, but now I’m exhausted and tired.

Now that it’s the weekend I can take it easy and all the modifications on TOS are done.

By the way: My Current Portfolio page has been updated.
