December, as usual, has been a very busy whirlwind of activity, given the Holiday Season, gigs, day trading and doing LOTS of errands and Christmas Shopping.
The Day Trading Effect
I’ve been waking up super early because of Day Trading.
I mean, I have to research and scan for possible stock trades before the opening bell at 6:30am (PST). And waking up early actually gives me some much needed quiet time and “me” time, which every person should set aside on a daily basis.
I’m finding out that, given the turmoil in the stock market since September 2018, I’m making more money day trading than just holding long positions. As long as my risk management is in check, and I have my entry and exit points marked with the best accuracy, I will always profit.
I still have my weekly Piano Gigs at Memory Care, and I’ve been focused (naturally) on Christmas Songs, and trying to mix it up with all-time favorites that the old folks like. It’s been a successful run here at Memory Care and it’s kind of hard to believe that I’ve been doing this consistently since 2016. I hope to continue doing it in 2019, but I hope to get a raise. They love me there.
Without turning this post into a full-fledged recap of 2018, I will just say that my wife and I haven’t actually traveled this year, which is kind of sad. But this was because of the Big Kitchen Remodel that sucked up all our funds for traveling. But at least we got to travel rather extensively these past 2 years: Spain, Portugal, China, Tibet, Hong Kong, Dubai, Nepal and India.
I am still feeling blessed to have done some world traveling in the last couple of years, and hopefully we’ll be back on track and traveling abroad in 2019 after the Kitchen Remodel is done.
This big project took most of our FREE time this year, because 1) my wife and I our very particular about what we want, 2) we are both very detail-oriented, and 3) we’ve been going back and forth with various materials for the kitchen, that this researching part took us the better part of the first three months of 2018.
Anyway, this was our first-ever kitchen remodel, but we have reworked parts of the house in the past (i.e. Flooring, Furniture, etc.).
And now, with delays and problems that have occurred with contractors and sub-contractors, what began in mid-October 2018 is not continuing on into 2019, but I’m sure we will be done in early January 2019.
Next up will be the bathrooms and flooring, but we REALLY need to take a break from home improvements and focus on traveling again.
More updates to follow…
