Current Investing Scenarios

This article is unofficially a part of my previous post on Obama’s legacy and his 9 year bull market, which was inherited by Donald Trump, who in turn had taken credit for the stock market’s successes in 2017.

I believe that Trump gets credit, in part, because he helped strike deals for Lockheed Martin and Boeing with Saudi Arabia. The reality is, these stocks aren’t as HOT in our fourth month of 2018.

Donald Trump vs Jeff Bezos?

It’s no secret Trump has been attacking Amazon and Jeff Bezos. And Forbes pointed out that Trump had lost some millions due to retailer property investments. One report estimated a loss of $3 million, while other reports estimated $300 million. It’s true that retailers have struggled because of the sheer power of Amazon to give consumers the best prices, the bottom line being, having no lease like the brick-and-mortar stores who have struggled to maximize profits.

Meanwhile, with these Trump tweets against Bezos and Amazon, the now richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos, has most likely lost an estimated $15 billion or so.

Of course, I think this is all paper losses. Amazon is still vying for the number one market cap spot that Apple currently holds. But, that may change this year.

On to the Current Watch List

My watch list(s) are forever changing, but I would say this is my current one today. And it’s based on stocks that are beating the downtrends today, and showing some resilience despite the trade war scares.

Here we go…

STORE Capital Corporation (STOR)

STOR seems to be uptrending and bucking the trend that past several weeks. It is showing signs of resilience and it’s rated a STRONG BUY by TipRanks.com. It has a grade of B from Portfolio Grader, and Technical Analysis shows it is Very Bullish in the long run, and Bullish overall.

I’m simply watching FB and AMZN because they have been downtrending lately and are stocks that have good fundamentals and could bounce back any day now.

BPT is a stock I’m watching because of the great dividend it offers, plus it’s currently on an uptrend.

SHOP has been struggling lately, but I have a long position that is doing great despite the choppy waters, and I might buy more while it’s down.

STLD is a steel stock that is worth watching, simply because Trump is raising tariffs on steel coming into the country from Canada and other countries. So far the stock hasn’t been doing that great despite the attention on steel.
