Music Playlist: 80s Music No. 1

If MTV was to the 80s what pseudo reality television is to the current generation, then I must confess I REALLY miss the 80s.

That said, there is still MTV, VH-1 and music videos, but let’s face it… today’s music videos simply lack the impact and influence (and overwhelming cultural significance than all the videos that came out of the 80s.

Well, I could be wrong, but that is my general feeling. If anything, there was a certain magic about music videos in the 80s, perhaps because it was a new frontier in the way musical artists were featured. And also perhaps due to the nostalgic effect that 80s music videos have on today’s culture.

So, that said, I post my first music playlist that covers my favorite music from the 1980s.

Great list, Carlos.  Many of those songs are on my 80’s list, too.  I’ll have to check out those songs by Nik Kershaw – I know only one song by him (Wouldn’t It Be Good).

Thanks, Manny!  I’m definitely inspired by all your playlist posts.  Many of the songs you list down I honestly don’t know (though I’m sure I might’ve heard them somewhere on the radio).

Ah, “Wouldn’t It Be Good” is a great song.  Will have to add that to my next 80s Playlist.

Nik Kershaw is one of those under-rated and not-so-popular-yet-talented singer-songwriters from the 80s.

I first heard of him when I was browsing around Tower Records (in the olden days) and they played Nik Kershaw’s “The Riddle” LP on the store’s stereo system!
