All Piano Gigs So Far in February, Which Is Nice!

I realized that I only have piano gigs this month, and I’m doing a nice little Valentine’s Day gig next week. And I’m looking forward to putting together the set list for that show.

No One’s Called Me To Play Drums!

This is rather surprising, because most of my gigs are drumming gigs, but in recent years I’ve been very concerned about my hearing and preserving it. And as far as I know my hearing is fine and I want to keep it that way.

Anyway, I’m flexible.

No worries if I’m not being called to play drums, and I do have a few drumming gigs lined up in the coming months.

But, my wife and I are planning another trip abroad, to either Japan or South America. The South American trip would go through Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

Well, it’s nice to just play piano for a change, and going solo puts me in complete control and being responsible for the repertoire I am to play.

And usual I’m a supporting member of the band as a drummer, and going solo puts me as the sole entertainer, and there is a certain amount of pressure when performer solo, 100% live, and in front of an audience.

No background music here. I’ve been playing to an audience, so the pressure is there to perform 100% and give it my all.

Of course, for Valentine’s Day I will do ‘My Funny Valentine’, and I already have appropriate standards for a romantic mood, such as ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ and ‘Fly Me To The Moon’.

Here’s a list of songs I plan to perform for Valentine’s Day:

  • My Funny Valentine
  • Fly Me To The Moon
  • The Way You Look Tonight
  • (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons
  • My Romance
  • The Nearness of You
  • Excerpt from Rachmaninoff Symphony No. 2 “Adagio”
