I’ve written about forgiveness a few times already.
The more I ponder over this topic, the more I realize just how important the act of forgiveness truly is.
If you don’t forgive someone for whatever negative actions were thrown at you, it’s simply mental thoughts that negatively affect your overall well-being.
It’s important to love yourself, yes? This is not the same thing as being egotistical and narcissistic. This has to do with loving yourself unconditionally, accepting all your faults and weaknesses in addition to your strengths and talents.
It has more to do with showing Compassion for yourself and others.
If you were harmed in some way, whether emotionally or physically, reacting negatively will not solve your problem. Chances are it will only aggravate it and make it worse.
Forgiveness means forgiving yourself, AND forgiving others.
Clinging to negative thoughts and the memories of negative actions from others is not healthy. But, it’s true that many times it is hard to not become affected by such traumas.
It’s important to let go of these negative thoughts, memories and feelings. After all, these things happened in the past. To dwell on them can’t be healthy. To move forward and find ways to heal are more important to your overall well-being.
Taking positive actions to heal body, mind and spirit are essential.
In the end, forgiveness can be very powerful and empowering. It can truly be healing.
The exact opposite is to dwell and obsess over any negative feelings you have from past events.
It’s important to take action:
- 1. Seek professional help.
- 2. Take action through positive reinforcement activities such as Yoga and Meditation.
- 3. Being active in sports and exercise.
- 4. Keeping busy with personal projects such as hobbies and the arts.
- 5. Taking classes. Working towards a degree or learning a trade.
It’s important to take any negative experiences and channeling them through positive experiences. This is why activities like playing a musical instrument are very important in helping with the healing process.
Let go and forgive your enemies. Otherwise, your enemies have succeeded in living inside your mind and continuing to do you more harm!
Do whatever it takes to get away from whatever continues to cause you harm. The Dalai Lama says to forgive your enemies, and if a relationship has no mutual respect, it’s best to stay away from that person. For that person is not helping you reach your true, positive potential.
Forgiveness is essential.
Forgiveness is key.
