Random Notes in the Middle of the Week

This is just a post covering some random thoughts.

I had a REALLY hectic few days this past weekend. I had two gigs on Saturday and Sunday, but on Saturday I had to wake up at 4am to do the following:

1. Grab a fire pit for a bonfire for my youngest son’s 21st birthday.

2. Grab a picnic table so that the birthday celebrations could cover beach and park.

It was very cold at the beach that morning. We had 3 stacks of fire wood and I had to start a fire just to keep warm (we still ended up with lots of fire wood for the night time bonfire).

I had a big Fundraising gig from 3pm to 7pm on Saturday as well, and musicians can relate that in these types of events, you’d better get there early because of the parking situation, set-up time, and sound check.

Anyway, after the gig I got home at about 9pm, and I was needed to go back down to the beach bonfire and help my youngest son with packing everything up in my “van”, which I had to unload all my drum equipment to make room for the party equipment (tents, tables, food, etc).

Dragging and carrying things through the sand late at night was major work! Especially after drumming at a gig earlier for 3 hours.

I was able to rest and sleep in a bit on Sunday morning, but I had a pretty demanding gig later that night, which actually turned out quite well.

And of course, Friday was probably spent preparing for my son’s 21st birthday celebration.

It was pretty hectic for me, and of course here we are in the middle of the week, and I’m feeling pretty good. Although my muscles were pretty sore on Monday morning.

But I forgot to mention that coming into last weekend’s events, I was recovering from what could’ve been bronchitis or slight pneumonia. And I’d been sick like this for 2 weeks. So, last Friday I also had a doctor’s appointment and she said it looked like I was rebounding from whatever I had (congestion and lots of coughing).

Today, I feel pretty healthy. No coughing, congestion or cold symptoms.

I had been working through all of that, but I can say that today I’m about 99% recovered. *knocks on wood*
