No Gig Tonight
Since there’s no gig tonight, I’m just hanging out with the family.
I prepared a nice dinner consisting of salad, baked salmon and tuna salad for the family.
And we’ll watch a rented DVD. Maybe the Jay Leno Show, and just kick back and relax for a change.
I am happy to report that Ritmo Loco‘s last two outdoor concerts in Escondido were recorded by the sound crew, off the main board.
It turned out really well. Good enough to make a CD out of. And you can hear me doing several drum solos and playing Latin-Jazz.
I’ll try to post some samples soon.
As all my musical colleagues can tell you, 2009 has been a very slow year for working musicians. So many talented people out there, so few gigs.
I got a call from Donnie this evening, asking me if I can play piano for him next Saturday at Bistro 221, covering for Gary Wilson. So, I’m totally looking forward to playing some piano at a gig, instead of drums. I practice more piano than drums nowadays. But it’s all musically oriented, so it’s all good.
This weekend is super slow. I had a possible gig at the Old Venice Restaurant but it looks like that fell through.
But, I’m looking forward to the Sunday gig at church. Always an uplifting experience!
