Recap: 4th of July Aftermath: It Was Fairly Busy for Me

Yesterday was a productive and eventful Fourth of July for me.

But I’m sure others had an even more productive and eventful day than I did, because I included some relaxing time to balance the entire day.

I woke up at 7am and had some Coffee (sumatra blend) with Ramen Noodles (with broccoli, tofu and egg).

Then I made breakfast-in-bed for my wife. Also, when she got home from work the day before she was pleasantly surprised to find a dozen roses.

Once, I finished breakfast I started to continue cleaning the house (from yesterday’s events).

And I managed to work my way into the backyard because my son was planning a small Fourth of July barbecue with friends.

I also managed to practice piano in the morning, then we went out to do errands and get our Starbucks mochas.

The day before, while cleaning, I was shining some glass tea light holders when one slipped out of my hands and rolled toward the fireplace, and guess what? It shattered into a million pieces.

I confess I’d been accident prone, perhaps due to the heat and humidity lately. Anyway, my wife and I made it a first priority to replace the broken tea light holder, as it was a center piece for our coffee table in the living room.

At Pier 1 Imports we actually found a set of three tea light holders to replace the entire old set. It was a great find and made up for the broken tea light holder. I was very happy about this.

My wife was actually sick for most of the day, experiencing “Bed, Bath and Beyond”, if you know what I mean. 😉

I practiced piano for what seemed like 2 hours today, and I played some patriotic songs (Star Spangled Banner, My Country Tis of Thee, America the Beautiful, and a little bit of Stars and Stripes). But, I also improvised quite a bit and performed a few Scott Joplin rags.

Piano Reflection...

At home, my son and his cousin and friends started up the barbecue grill, and I confess to indulging in a hamburger before heading off to my parents to participate in yet another Fourth of July barbecue.

I was at my parents house for a couple of hours. And while there I indulged in some rice, korean beef and chicken, vegetables (including Filipino spinach) and even had an ice cream sundae. I was trying to help my oldest sister with her laptop problems.

At home it was just a matter of relaxing in the evening.

I had no desire to see any fireworks, whatsoever. Is that bad of me? It’s just that I’ve seen so many in my lifetime and the tradition of seeing fireworks in person can be a 3 hour plus endeavor. Sorry, fireworks lovers, but I was just happier to watch the fireworks on television, the ones that were in New York City and Washington D.C. and they were spectacular.

I truly needed to wind down my day. And had some popcorn from our new popcorn machine.

The rest of my day was spent surfing the web, but not doing any web development work. And I did this before I got ready for bed and sleep.

To me it was a very eventful day still, especially the cleaning part as it was quite physical.
