Reflectance: A Collection of Piano Improvisations

Reflectance“the measure of the proportion of light or other radiation striking a surface that is reflected off it.”

. . . .

I’ve been very busy recording music in the “home studio”, that I haven’t had much time to write here, anyway…

Reflectance is a new concept album just launched on iTunes, consisting of 5 piano improvisations recorded just recently, and very early in the morning when there is less white noise.

I don’t have the luxury of going into a recording studio and play on a concert grand, so I am reduced to the most frugal, yet effective way to record my playing…

…and that’s to record at home on my own grand piano.

But I just have this need to express myself musically in the form of piano improvisations. It’s just something I’ve been doing for so long on my own, and now I’m able to share what I do in a recording.

I’ve always been very intrigued by the concept of improvising music. For me, the challenge is to perform music off the top of my head, in “real time”… no rehearsal, no overdubs, just a pure stream of music coming from the heart, mind and soul…

It’s my personal form of musical meditation… what you hear is what went down at that very moment in time.

Reflections is available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and Google Play.
