Selfishness and Loving Oneself

I’ve been trying to watch as many YouTube videos of Sadhguru as I can.

And here is yet another great video of Mystic and Yogi Sadhguru, as he speaks to an audience about the differences between being selfish and loving oneself.

On Wellness and Well-Being

I’ve been getting into the concept of wellness and well-being.

Sadhguru explains that everyone is concerned for well-being, only the scale of that concern for well-being is different for the individual.

If you are totally selfish, you are only concerned for your own well-being. But, this actually is impossible.

Let’s say you are a young person who lives at home under your parents’ roof. You might say you are concerned for your own well-being, but just to be concerned for your own well-being is impossible. You would be concerned for the well-being of your parents because they are taking care of you and supporting you financially. You would be concerned for the well-being of your parents’ family because their well-being would affect your parents’ well-being.

Well-Being and Interconnectedness

This can extend all the way to planet Earth, for your own well-being is affected by planet Earth’s well-being.

All-in-all, everything on the planet is affected by everything else, so it’s important to acknowledge that our own well-being is affected by our surroundings and our environment.

So it’s important to nurture that sense of well-being for everything around us, because it also affects our own personal well-being. The people we care for and the colleagues with whom we work with are important in our lives, so it’s natural to be concerned for their well-being as well, in addition to our own.

A Concern For Everything

In the end, everything is interconnected.

In the end, we are a part of the Earth… the air we breath, the ground we walk on, the fire that keeps us warm, and the water that we drink.

We are the earth, the wind, the fire, the air and the spirit.

Upon this realization, it’s easy to see that we are all one.

We are Oneness.
