Saturday, June 2, 2018, Market Recap, Winners and Losers

A Great Friday Close, But…

DOW +219.37   •   NASDAQ +112.21   •   SP500 +29.36   •   NYSE +93.69

It appeared that the major market indexes ended on a high note to cap off the week, but if you look at the one week chart below for the DOW, we didn’t even break even as losses earlier in the week were greater than the bounce back on Friday. But, Friday was a great rally for a change. And it’s nice to end (for the most part) all in the green.

Let’s look at the week’s DOW winners and losers…

DOW Winners: Intel (INTC), Dow Dupont (DWDP), Cisco (CSCO), Microsoft (MSFT)

DOW Losers: Chevron (CVX), Disney (DIS), American Express (AXP)

Below are the top winners to end the week on Friday, June 1, 2018.

Intuitive Surgical (ISRG)

Intuitive Surgical was the big winner this week since the FDA approved a new medical robot. The stock jumped +$19 a share on Friday on the announcement of this news.

Cisco Systems (CSCO)

Cisco’s stock went up 2.22% on Friday on the upcoming earnings report. If all goes well next week, this stock should gap up. CSCO is prone to volatility based on the company’s earnings reports. We’ll see what happens.

Shopify (SHOP)

Revenues for the company have grown since same quarter last year, and the stock has gone up 12 percent since the last earnings report.

Buys and Sells

This past week we bought Amazon (again) at $1,620 a share. And sold the following for profits: Estée Lauder (EL), Under Armour (UA), Fidus Investment (FDUS)
