I remember first seeing Scarlett Johansson in the movie, “Ghost World”, a small indie film that garnered some rave reviews.
She starred as a tomboyish teenager named Rebecca alongside actress Thora Birch who played the role of Enid. The two faced the trials and tribulations of graduating from high school and facing new roads ahead. Ghost World was based on the underground comic book.
These days Scarlett Johansson is gorgeous and voluptuous. She has been crowned twice as the ‘Sexiest Woman Alive’ by Esquire Magazine. She has since been playing the role of superhero femme Black Widow in Iron Man 2, Captain America: Winter Soldier, and The Avengers movies.
Being able to fit into a tight Black Widow outfit has caused many to wonder, just what diet and exercise regimen did she do to stay fit for the role.
Is Scarlett Johansson Vegan?
Doing some searching online led me to a few articles that mentioned Scarlett Johansson being a raw vegan.
“Right before we started [‘The Avengers’] I was lifting all these weights and eating raw vegan,” said Scarlett. “But the only reason I was doing that was to fix my previous diet because that was a Paleo diet, so I’ve had the extreme of everything. After lots of training and raw vegan food you can fit into a catsuit.”
So, the raw vegan diet was successful for Scarlett Johansson in getting her into shape and fitting into tight suits, and was used to fix whatever imbalances or problems she had experienced while on a Paleo Diet.
It kind of makes sense, because the main potential problem with the Paleo Diet is over-consumption of meat, which requires a lot of the body’s energy just to digest. I mean, there’s no getting around the time and energy the body needs to process meat, so that can sap energy levels.
Apparently, the raw vegan diet had put Scarlett Johansson into better physical shape and a slimmer figure in order to fit into a tight suit.
Maybe her raw vegan diet was only temporary while working on her action movies. But it seemed more sustainable for her. While not on movie projects she sticks to a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables and lean proteins.
When she’s not training for a role, Johansson tries to work out half an hour a day and eat a balanced diet of fruit, vegetables and lean proteins.
“No matter how busy my life may be, I feel better when I take a little time to focus on staying active,” she said. “We can all pledge to have healthy bodies no matter how diverse our lifestyles may be.”
