Sunday, July 1, 2018: Pre-Market Notes, New Active Trading Setup

My New Trading Setup

I was more than content rocking Think or Swim on my Macbook Pro. To me, TOS does have a rather steep learning curve. And the customization possibilities seem to be endless, which is what makes TOS difficult to tweak to suit your trading needs.

Using various stock trading websites to gather info and data on any given stock, I would constantly have to switch desktops within my Macbook Pro, so being able to run a dual monitor setup with my Macbook Pro has made my life easier and potential trades quicker.

Above is the new trading setup for Day and Swing Trading. Getting multiple charts on the screen is awesome! And linking the various windows makes it so easy when you click on a stock and all the charts reflect that stock’s performance.

A Detailed Look at the Trading Setup

Basically, I added two 27″ 4k UHD LG Monitors, mounted on a dual monitor mount purchased for $28 from Amazon.

The LG Monitors were a bargain price for 4k monitors at $295 each. I was eyeing the LG 5k UHD UltraFine Monitors, but they are way out of my price range!

Anyway, the picture quality on my LG 4k 27″ monitors are stunning! I thought they would be too big, but once installed they went quite well with my 15″ Macbook Pro.

I just set the monitors in the Display preferences to have the Macbook Pro in the center and the two LG monitors on each side. My mouse settings were sped up a bit so that I could quickly go back-and-forth between the 3 screens.

These LG 27″ 4k monitors are very bright at night, but I can change the settings to Night Shift during the evening. This can also be found in the Display preferences panel.

Here’s my old setup of TOS on the Macbook Pro… and now you can compare the differences between the new setup and the old one. It’s like night and day!
