The Gun Culture in America That Takes Innocent Lives

Guns Weapons

My heart goes out to the victims and their families of the Santa Monica shooting.

4-year-old in Arizona accidentally shoots, kills father.

This type of news seems prevalent these days, as I’m getting the distinct impression more and more people are “exercising” their right to bear arms. And a sense of irony that after the Colorado shootings and the Sandy Hook massacre, more people are buying up guns.

I’m all for people exercising their rights, as long as they do so intelligently and safely. The problem is, far too many people are either irresponsible with their guns, or they are mentally deranged or just mad enough to using their guns to blow others away. I hear about more of these people in the news than those people that are truly able to defend themselves with their guns. And even when someone is supposedly defending himself against another person, he’s arrested for murder.

The more I think about it… it’s a complex issue that definitely won’t be resolved anytime soon, and I’m afraid it’ll just get worse.

I think that gun owners should go through a lengthy process where they are required to take gun education classes, and pass a gun training program to become more responsible with their weapon(s). Obviously, no one is going to literally ban guns because people will still find a way to buy them.

But if the proper gun education process and training programs are in place, then at least it might help the masses…. might.

Unfortunately, there’s always going to be some stupid person out there who owns a gun, is utterly irresponsible about keeping his gun safe, and resulting in some senseless tragedy. It’s a sad reality of life in America, as we as a nation own the second most guns in the world, second only to Mexico!

I personally feel that guns shouldn’t be banned. But, there should be stricter laws and programs to help ensure that people are safer with guns, and we try the best we can to keep guns away from those who have mental problems.

Something definitely has to be done. So far no one seems to be doing anything about it.
