Throwback Thursday: Pics of Me Through the Years

Throwback Thursday Pics

For Throwback Thursday, I decided to do a blog post featuring some random pics from the past. The usual routine is to post something on Facebook or Instagram, but this time I thought I’d dedicate a blog post for today’s popular hashtag.

The above photo of me at home dates back to pre-2004, before we had the wood flooring installed. I forgot about this one. I look like the poster boy for Starbucks Coffee! This was back when I got my daily dose of Soy Mochas from Starbucks.

Back then, I was kickin’ it with a Mac Powerbook G4.

This was during the time I was an avid swimmer. I mean, we’re talkin’, swimming lots of laps at the YMCA pool almost every day. It became an addiction of sorts, and I remember finally getting in really great shape.

Raw Vegan .:. May 2006

I took a selfie back in 2006 when I was a strict Raw Vegan. I weighed around 170 and at 5 feet 10 inches my BMI was 24.4. This is at the upper range of my normal weight range. I know, go figure. But, I think ideally I should weigh around 155 lbs. Funny thing, at 170 lbs. family and friends thought I was too thin.

Practicing Raja Yoga .:. October 2005

The closest style of Yoga that I practice would be Raja Yoga. The emphasis is not on the Asanas (but I still practice the poses), but rather focusing on the Mind and being attuned on a Spiritual level. In the end, even the poses bring one toward the goal of meditation and self-realization, similar to what Paramahansa Yogananda taught.

Practicing Yoga .:. December 2005

My favorite pose is the headstand, or Sirsasana. When I was first learning how to do this, I practiced against a wall, until I felt comfortable to try it out in the open, on a Yoga mat. When I haven’t done the headstand in awhile, I will go back to doing them on the wall.

And this fulfills the week’s commitment to Throwback Thursday.
