A Vegan Lifestyle: The Old World Sourdough Bread Update

A week after the Old World Sourdough Bread incident, I’m feeling much better.

In case you are just checking in and missed all the hoopla, I have been gluten-free since the beginning of the year, officially. And even in 2016, I was trying to be more gluten-free but not 100%. But during this transition period I was noticing that bread and anything with flour in it had caused me bloating and feeling rather sluggish.

Going gluten-free has eliminated any intestinal problems I might’ve been experiencing before, especially the bloating and puffy face.

I read some articles about old world sourdough being okay for people with gluten-sensitivity issues, and boy was that a mistake. So I tried eating the old world sourdough and I had an episode where I was experiencing pain in my abdomen.

I quickly stopped eating the old world sourdough bread and the problems went away in about a week.

Yes, it took a week just to recuperate from it.

This tells me that the gluten-sensitivity is real, and the fact that I am like my own research scientist experimenting on myself as a guinea pig.

I will be staying away from breads and flour products from now on and I’ll just focus on rice, corn and potato products as my carb staples.

I come from the Asian continent, so rice just feels very natural as a staple. There is absolutely nothing wrong with rice as billions of Asians eat it every day.

It’s Western Culture that seems to be giving it a bad name.
