My newest album, Piano Music for Zen Meditation, is officially set to be released on 9/11.
I am very happy with the outcome of this album, and the mastering process with Ozone 8 was an entirely new experience for me.
This newest album is a collection of piano improvisations recorded in my home studio between 2015 and 2019. It’s not so much a meditation or yoga album, but an album that attempts to capture the essence of Zen teachings. This is a mighty task to accomplish but I have always considered music performance to be meditation, to play within the moment and capture in a recording whatever came to my head.
I’m happy to announce a new solo piano effort to be launched in September of 2019.
This is going to be a collection of piano improvisations recorded between 2015 and 2019, and in the mindset of Eastern Thought, Zen and intended for meditation and yoga.
I practice Yoga 2-3 times a week, and I was hoping to create an album that focuses on Yoga and Meditation and can be used to do an hour Yoga routine or an hour of Meditation. I hope this will be an ideal album for you Yogis and Yoginis out there.
I confess. I’ve been struggling with this latest project in many ways.
1. I want this to be a dark ambient album, and I’ve been struggling with themes and motifs.
2. I’m not sure which direction I want to take this now, mostly with the instrumentation and virtual instruments.
I have a beautiful Yamaha Grand Piano which desperately needs tuning, but with the new Logic Pro X, I’m actually VERY impressed with the selections of sampled grand pianos, from Bosendorfer to Steinway to Yamaha, I must admit these pianos sound awesome, so there’s no need to mic a real grand piano (which can be extremely difficult to do.
Quiet Journey is the fifth solo album released by pianist Carlos Rull on his Western Sage Recorders label. It was recorded in his home studio on a Yamaha C Series Grand Piano.
Release Date: August 5, 2019 Recorded: Between 2013 and 2015 Total Time: 47:41
The album consists of two tracks, the first track is improvised piano with wind chime effects added later. The second (and title track) is completely improvised on piano and is inspired by Zen Buddhist teachings, the beauty of nature, and of quiet contemplation.
