One Man Jazz, Drummer, Composer
I did a fun Memorial Day gig at a local memory care unit, and I played a bunch of patriotic songs. I was able to play an Armed Forces medley to honor the men and women who died for our country, and did classics like America the Beautiful and Battle Hymn of the Republic.
I was also able to play some standards from the Great American Songbook. Some new standards I’ve been working on are: Pennies from Heaven and Embraceable You.

This was a super fun gig, just playing Jazz Standards, with Whitney Shay (vocals), Jon Walters (guitars), Ed Kornhauser (keys & bass), Tim Nunnink (saxophones) and myself on drums.
Third Coast Jazz recently performed 2 cocktail hour sets for Juliet and Milo’s Wedding Reception at The Marine Room in La Jolla, CA.
This was an uber fun gig, and we played primarily jazz standards from the great American songbook. All in all, this was a very classy event and The Marine Room is such an iconic venue to have a wedding reception. Congratulations to the bride and groom!
Once again we had the amazing and talented Whitney Shay on vocals (nominated for another San Diego Music Award for best Blues Artist), and Ed Kornhauser (also nominated for another San Diego Music Award for Best Jazz Artist).
I have three San Diego Music Award wins in the Big Band category with Big Time Operator in the 1990s, and this group comprises of a talented bunch of musicians, with fearless bandleader Jon Walters on guitars, and Tim Nunninck on saxophones.
